Grade 4 went on a field trip to Parliament House and we learnt about the parts of the Singapore Parliament. We learnt about the President and the Prime Minister of Singapore. There was a very high level of security so we had to go through a scanner and be checked.
Then we saw a room where people think about all of the good ideas and laws of Singapore. Parliament House is along the river. At the back there was a dark room which is the only room to discuss and talk. Everywhere else we had to be quiet. By Kotaro and Bosco.

On Wednesday, we created designs on A3 paper about what would be our ultimate classroom. Each group presented their classroom design. Everybody smiled and was happy. We enjoyed designing the classroom. There were some great things like holograms, pet rooms and games rooms. We used information from the classroom to design our own classroom. It was fun day. This week, we researched about learning styles and about the brain works for different learning styles. Today, we presented our information to class (just 4.1) and also we learned new words. Everyone had a lot of good information and also they worked well as a team, but some people chose to research their own. I think we did good job with searching and presenting. Searching for the information was especially fun! by Koshiro.
Today 4.1 went to Ms. Hima's classroom to learn about science. We learned about magnetism We did an experiment to learn about magnetism. We had to start by making a hypothesis. Then we got a magnet, chalk and paper clips. Then we wrote four lines on the magnet and wrote A, B, C and D in the space. Then we put paper clips by one by one and wrote it how many paper clips each part of the magnet could hold. We learned many things about magnetism and it was a lot of fun. By Kansuke.
Last Friday, we had a house event. There were four teams named Somerset, Raffles, Newton and Orchard. We did many activities and there were many people from the Elementary school and Middle school. The activities were sports, art and music. Then Mr. Tony made us a team song and we chose the house leader. In the end, our Principal Ms Tilney told us witch team won. 1st was Somerset, 2nd was Newton, 3rd was Raffles and 4th was Orchard. We really enjoy the house event! By Koshiro and Kansuke

We have set up an observation post in our classroom to observe the changes and wildlife of the Banyan tree outside our classroom. We have been using our science skills and knowledge to record our findings and take notes about changes and observations, also the nature and wildlife around the tree. Each Tuesday we have been going to swimming lessons. We have been diving and learning about how to save someone who needs help when they can't swim. We have also learnt how to float and how to use different strokes such as freestyle.
We have been building our reading stamina by using both the strategies of ‘read to self’ and ‘read to someone’. We’ve especially enjoyed reading to someone and practicing our reading fluency.
