We prepared this week for our Deepavali celebrations. We worked together to create two large rangolis, that were vibrant colours, and then painted diya lamps for our parade. We also recounted what was most important about the Hindu celebration.
DIWALI by Holly दिवाली Diwali or the festival of lights is an Indian holiday that is celebrated in November or October every year. The date of Diwali changes every year because of the lunar and solar cycles created into one system. The lunar calendar is often used for religious purposes and marks important days of worship whereas, the solar calendar is used for day-to-day schedules and is sometimes called the civil calendar.Diwali takes place on the 15th day of the Hindu month of Kartik which is the day of the new moon or Amavasya. This night is considered to be the darkest night of the year in Hindu mythology and is very holy. The date of Diwali 2020 is the 14 of November in Singapore. Diwali is the most important Hindu holiday because, For example, Diwali commemorates the triumph of Rama, the lord of virtue, over the demon Ravana, as well as the return of Rama to his kingdom after 14 years of exile. Hindus also commemorate the victory of the god Krishna over Narakasura, a king who had aligned himself with a demon, causing him to turn evil.
